JOY IS A FORM OF REBELLION

I’m just getting home from camping in the Upper Peninsula.  It was healing to be so away from negativity.  Every morning at sunrise, we would meet other campers on the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior and watch the sun come up in silence.  It was primal.  And I was reminded:

Nature isn’t polarizing.  We are meant to enjoy life together.

And we did enjoy life together this weekend.  We skipped stones.  We hiked waterfalls.  We sat around campfires.  And perhaps the nerdiest activity of them all: we painted lake stones.  We painted 23 in total, and then my family auctioned them off to each other.  My cherry pie rock art went for $9.10.

Reader, I am reminded more than ever that joy itself is a form of rebellion. Enjoying the beauties of this world prevents us from being sucked into the rampant hatred.  I’m wishing you a week of rebellion of your own. I’ll see you next Monday. -Em
