Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas morning and Happy Holidays, Reader.  I'm the first one up in our little house today, and the usual Sunday Night Blog is going to be a quick Sunday morning reflection before everybody wakes up and I devote the day to spending time with my family.

2016 has been my most mentally, physically, and emotionally hectic year to date.  I've never worked harder with less sleep and under more scrutiny. So it's no wonder that I didn't get around to sending Christmas cards this year.  But I had worked up this little note to drop in the mail and fully intended on having it printed and mailed.

(For those of you who never knew, my legal last name is Christensen).

Anyway, on further reflection, something really bothered me about this card.  There we are, trying to make our son smile for the camera while trying not to slip on the ice outside while trying to smile ourselves...it just feels insincere. So instead, I worked up something more honest.

Because my dear Reader, this is real life, in all its hectic glory.  Our son keeps us chasing him non-stop.  The baby I'm about to have kicks like the feisty little lady she is bound to be. I'm working at my building in a respirator most days, and then I come home, play a little music, catch up with my husband, and collapse.  And you know?  It's a truly rich and rewarding life, and I'm beyond grateful for it all.  Thanks for being a part of it.  Have a wonderful holiday! See you next Sunday for the annual New Year's blog. -Em
